Ozone Therapy

Dr Peachy is now offering Ozone Therapy at North Coast Naturopathic Medicine!

Ozone is a gas, made up of 3 oxygen molecules together (O3). Ozone is the smell that happens when lightning strikes and produces ozone from the oxygen in the air. It turns back into regular oxygen (O2), very quickly once it mixes with air. An ozone machine uses electricity to turn oxygen into ozone. Medical applications of ozone have been around for over 30 years in the United States and were originally pioneered in Germany. Ozone works as a signal or messenger in the body to help upregulate healing, antioxidant formation, and mitochondrial function, and downregulate inflammatory signals.

Some ways to use Ozone medically:

Insufflation (blowing ozone gas into sinuses, bladder, rectum, vagina, or ears.) This helps treat infections and heal tissues. When used rectally it absorbs into the mucus membrane and becomes a signal for healing in the liver and bloodstream. It can be used in the bladder to heal chronic UTIs or cystitis.

Injections (into mouth, sinuses, under any area of the skin, around joints, to treat scars, and to help with trigger point pain, joint pain or adhesions.)

Limb bagging (can put a hand, arm, leg, or whole body in a bag and let the ozone flow into the bag, healing wounds, skin infections, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin lesions.)

Blood injections (ozonating your own blood and injecting back into the body to upregulate mitochondria and downregulate inflammation.)

Blood infusions (blood taken from the body, ozonated, then returned to the body via IV) to upregulate mitochondria, downregulate inflammation, and increase energy and healing. See this article for more info!

Ozonated water and oils can be used topically and internally to promote healing and treat infections.
